Tablet versus Topical Flea Treatment for Cats
The challenge that the Elanco Territory Manager had was to counter the view held by a Vet Practice that none if any of their Cat owners would be interested in giving a tablet flea and tick treatment for their cat. The TM had generic data that suggested otherwise but this was rejected by the Practice on the grounds that “our cat owners are different”.
The aim was to test this presumption by surveying their Cat owners. A questionnaire was designed by SMSComms to be completed on the client’s Smart Phone. There were six questions asked, some of which were multiple choice questions, others allowed more than one answer and others still were open questions. 1900 cat owners were surveyed with nearly 500 completing it, a significantly higher completion rate than other approaches would achieve. Such a sample size is statistically significant and enabled the results to be analysed with a high degree of confidence.
The results showed that nearly 30% of clients would be happy to use a tablet. Those that were using a tablet currently said that they had no greater difficulty in giving the treatment than those using a topical solution. In fact, there was a greater negative reaction by cats when the topical treatment was being prepared than compared with the tablet treatment.
Finding solutions to problems such as this are where SMSComms comes into its own.
